So if you have to name, Major, Minor, Lorain, etc. What scale do you play in the most?

What does most of your ultimate work come from?

Harmonic Minor
Minor
Major

Those are my normal go to scales that have been burned into my brain when I play guitar.

When I just play around on electric guitar I also play Pentatonic minor and Blues scale

I also seem to be stuck in the key of Aminor

I think that my ultimate work is my latest, and it actually uses the Melodic Minor scale! I never thought I would use it, but alas it came to be.

I must say that I do love the Harmonic Minor scale as well...

I love to use the chromatic, or at least a minor scale with chromatic inflections. I also find myself drifting into the Dorian mode every so often.

Quoted for concurrence, also I tend to use phrygian to mimic eastern music on western instruments.

Major and minor. Nice, happy, versatile. And I've mostly been educated in the Western Classical style, so that's all I know.

I hardly ever use scales nowadays. I tend to make a chord progression that goes all over the chromatic (often by transposing a single chord), then base melodies off each chord. When I stay in a scale, it's usually dorian, well I don't really use the 6th because it sounds awkward, so you could just as well call it minor. Harmonic minor/one of its modes happens too.

I play drums so I don't play scales. :D

When it comes to writing though, I prefer a natural minor or a harmonic minor. It's hard for me to come up with anything good in a major key, though I can after awhile. Maybe it just comes more natural to me in a minor key. ;) Pun intended.

When writing I usually prefer to write in either D minor or E minor. Both contain one accidental. I like writing D minor if I'm working on something metal or dark simply because it has a familiar tone I think everyone can relate too, at least if you listen to metal music, and then it's usually harmonic minor for that darker sound.

I try to diversify as much as possible, so I ended updoing songs entirely in the Jewish scale, Hindu scales I use once in a while, whole-tone, half-diminished and dominant diminished are my personal favorites ;)

Also, to PandeMix: I'm also studying the Jazz trumpet and also happen to be 17! how about that?
